Ventura
Raceway's 2012 Flat Track Motorcycle
season continued its 2012 run Saturday
September 1, with a full program of
exciting flat track, road course and
motocross racing. With 160 riders signed
into the pits the fans in attendance
were in for some outstanding flat track
racing. Eighteen classes ranging from
kids 5 and up on bikes, to vintage and
modern flat track and oval races for
bikes and quads, all the way to open
professional racers going for a first
place prize of $1,200. Racing was fast
and furious from the first to last
event.
Racing in the kids’ bike divisions saw
Grant Holmes take the kids 65cc and
Under win. In the kids 110cc and Under
class the win went to Nolan Colborn.
In the adult classes for amateur riders
wins went to Gary Croskery in the Pit
Bike/150F Moto race and Patrick O’Connor
took the road course division win. In
500 cc Vintage racing the win went to
Jim Lundgren over Larry Earhart. 750cc
vintage racing saw Keith Speir win over
Dylan Morin. The Iron and Resin Hooligan
Derby class was won by Bill Kee over
Kris Faria. 250cc Motocross Flat Track
went to James Davis over Zack Wiley. The
450cc Motocross Flat Track win went to
Zack Wiley over Brandon Handt. For the
45 and older racers a Vet Class was run
with the win going to John Lundgren over
Sean Lambert. In 250 Motocross on the
infield motocross track, Robert Angell
took the win over James Davis. 450
Motocross racing saw the win go to Shaun
Fortier over Dillon George. Amateur
Modern racing went to Dylan Morin over
Jeff Turgill.
In Quad racing the Quad Moto 16 and over
Open went to Nick Kline over Joey
Garcia. The Flat Track Quad win went to
Danny Elderbaum over Raygen Harris. In
the Sportsman Division the win went to
Dan Olivera over Troy Slayton. The Road
Course Quad Class race was held with the
win going to Joey Diaz over David
Knight.
Sixteen professional riders took the
green flag in their 20 lap main event
going for the winner’s check of $1,200.
Steve Bonsey took the 20 lap feature for
his first Ventura Raceway win over
Rodney Spencer, Austin Scaggs, Dylan
Morin and David Bush. These racers
thrilled the crowd with close hard
fought racing from the first lap until
the finish on lap 20. Steve Bonsey and
Rodney Spencer each took an eight lap
heat win.
Motorcycle racing returns on Saturday
night November 3, with the fourth and
final race in their 2012 season. |
