Saturday
night June 20 saw over 130 riders sign
into the pits to compete in the second
flat track event of 2009. Racing was
fast and furious in classes ranging from
kids to adult, and amateur to pros,
racing on bikes and quads. The riders
raced on a specially prepared oval track
and a wild infield track of bumps and
jumps.
The highlight of the night was the
professional race that concluded the
night’s event. Mike Rush was the man of
the hour as he raced to the front and
took the twenty lap feature event. Briar
Bowman gave him all he could, but was
not able to pass the flying Rush. The
pros ran for a purse of $3500 with the
top prize of $1200 going to the winner.
Following Rush and Brown across the
finish line were Tyler O’Hara, David
Brown and Ronnie Brown. There were two
heat race sessions run with wins going
to Rush, Bowman and Jeff Evans.
The largest class in attendance was the
450 Motocross TT Class. With 23 riders
signed into this class an A and B main
format was used. The A main went to Jeff
Pennington and the B main went to Nick
Cali.
Another highlight of the night was the
first adult quad race on the infield
moto/tt track. These racers thrilled the
crowd with their high speed on the oval
and then their ability to jump over the
infield bumps and jumps. The top riders
took the double jumps with ease
thrilling the crowd with each jump. The
win in the main event went to Bill Frisk
on his number 8 quad.
